Champagne Michel Arnould & Fils – Verzenay.

We were introduced to this Domaine by some very good friends who were living and working in France and Geneva. Champagne lovers.

We visited the Domaine three times over a period of 3 years and were very impressed by the wines and the Domaine’s philosophy. It has been a family Domaine for over 13 generations. They have 35 hectares only of predominantly Grand Cru Pinot Noir and also Chardonnay. Previously they sold their fruit to Bollinger, but now they vinify under their own labels.

Michel Arnould was joined by his son Patrick, his son-in-law Thierry and later Thierry’s son Thomas.

They have over 12 labels with a range of quality and styles.

In this release we have included the references from Richard Juhlin and his Champagne Magnum Opus. Richard is the world expert on this amazing beverage, Champagne. The book in itself is a revelation.

All of their wines have a subtle finesse and character that reflects the attitude to preserving and expressing this very special terroir. This family has a religious devotion to their inheritance of some of the most famous and unique parcels of vineyards in the world. But they are not just relying on history and tradition. They are pushing the boundaries to achieve the ultimate expression of this terroir.

As Juhlin states in his Opus, the Pinot grapes from Verzenay have the most intense depth of colour and concentration in all of Champagne, but the wines are not heavy.

He writes: “In pure form there are no better wines than Michel Arnould Mémoire de Vignes and Bollinger P.N. V.Z.”

“The largest landowners of the Champagne houses are Mumm, Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon, Billecart-Salmon, Perrier-Jouët, and Louis Roederer.”

Michel Arnould is regarded as one of the foremost producers in the village.

We are the exclusive Australian importer of this wine.
